This retainer can be taken out when necessary.
These retainers are worn when active treatment is finished to let the teeth settle into their correct positions. You can remove them for cleaning, to brush your teeth, and (sometimes) to eat. Depending on your treatment, you may have top/and or bottom retainers.
When orthodontic treatment is complete, you have a choice between a few types of retainers. Kids (and adults!) are able to design their own retainer and pick colors, designs, and stickers if they'd like.
Bonded (Fixed) Retainer
This non-removable retainer is cemented to the back sides of the front teeth.
A fixed retainer typically consists of a passive wire bonded to the tongue-side of the (usually, depending on the patient's bite, only lower) incisors. Unlike the removable retainers, fixed retainers cannot be removed by the patient.
